I’ve so much to share since writing the last blog six weeks ago, a time when I had grown weary of producing a single sentence. You may have noticed that my blog name has now changed to “Kids with Promise.” Change is what this past month has been about.
The past six weeks have definitely been a time of accelerated growth and newness for my husband and me. We have been on a fast ride through incredible highs as well as steep drops, including blind corners where decisions have had to be made without the ability to see around the bend. We spent ten exhilarating days in Israel where God poured Himself into us day after day inspiring us deeply in ways that we still cannot fully comprehend. (more in later blogs!) We also traveled to Oregon where we spent contemplative, relaxing time with old friends and

In the midst of all the exciting and difficult change, I have become inspired to write again. My enthusiasm flows out of a renewed awe of God who is loving and sovereign and desires our good all the time. It may not always “feel” so – nor will we always understand what He is doing – but as we choose to look through eyes of faith, He grants us sight not just in the mountain top experiences but also as we pass through dark times when all we can do is hold on tightly to His hand and trust.
As a planner, I like to know what is going to happen in advance. Yet I have come to realize that I must trust in who God is rather than in what He will do – and that He will bring about what He purposes in His timing, for His pleasure and for my good. He gives me just enough light to see to the next corner but rarely more, likely because He desires that I lean on Him and not my own intuition.
I am learning to abide. I am learning to take the steps He asks me to take, one day at a time. I am learning to be patient. I am learning to cling tightly to Jesus, the very hope of my existence.
Join me each week as we consider life with its ebbs and flows, and seek to anchor our individual lives- and those of our family’s- on the One who never changes. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) We can stand securely on this truth as we walk along an unpredictable path, one that He established for each of us in the beginning; one that He walks with us along the way; and one that He waits for us at the finish line to complete.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
